The largest union at the Resolute pulp and paper mill in Thunder Bay is concerned about long-term wood supply after the mill is sold to a US private equity firm, Atlas Holdings.
The union, Unifor, wants assurances about future fiber access and costs. Resolute and Atlas will have a wood chip and biomass supply agreement, but details are undisclosed. Unifor plans to meet with Atlas to address these concerns. While Atlas has the capacity to invest in the mill, Unifor worries about the mill's future.
