SAPPI EHINGEN PM6 “POLLUX” PROJECT

Sappi, the world‘s leading supplier of sustainable wood fibre products and solutions as well as a leading company in coated graphic, packaging and speciality papers, is also continuously investing at its Ehingen site, which is particularly known for the production of coated fine papers and white top liners. The company is constantly facing up to changes in the market as well as looking at necessary modernisation measures.

Under the project name „Pollux“, a new winder is also being installed to utilise the full production capacity of the paper machine and later replace the existing winder.

With Bellmer, Sappi chose a competent partner for this future-oriented project. In addition to the TurboWinder (working width 5,700 mm, operating speed up to 2,500 m/min) with integrated TurboButtSplicer, the overall concept also includes comprehensive reel handling in the form of TurboTransporter Pro and TurboLifter, as well as a TurboPulper.

Thanks to the extensive product range of the Bellmer sites involved and the inclusion of the entire field installation, Bellmer GapCon is able to offer the customer a turnkey system from a single source.

Already in the project phase, challenges such as the limited space of the planned new building and the resulting customised plant layout were jointly mastered by Sappi and Bellmer.

Delivery will take place this year, which means that commissioning of the machine is planned for January 2024.
