Last Thursday, the eucalyptus bioproducts giant, Suzano, initiated construction works for its new tissue paper factory in Aracruz, Espírito Santo.

This $126 million US investment  is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2026. With a production capacity of 60,000 tons per year, the factory will create 300 jobs during the construction phase and 200 jobs once operational. Its production will primarily target markets in the southeast and supply the brands Mimmo, Max Pure, and Neve.

This new facility marks a significant milestone for Suzano, which entered into the toilet paper production six years ago and is now a market leader in this segment. "Aracruz is a competitive factory and has all the conditions to become even more so," said Walter Schalka, CEO of Suzano, during the groundbreaking ceremony.

The Aracruz factory represents a crucial step in achieving the local hygiene market's goals. It joins the Cachoeiro de Itapemirim factory, which already converts tissue into toilet paper, increasing Suzano's installed capacity in the consumer goods sector to 340,000 tons per year.

Impact on the local economy

In addition to creating direct and indirect jobs, Suzano's new factory is expected to boost the local economy in several ways. The company will prioritize hiring local labor and invest in partnerships with specialized institutions to train workers.

Commitment to sustainable development

Suzano is committed to operating the new tissue paper factory sustainably, utilizing the best available practices in energy efficiency and environmental control. The company will also invest in reforestation programs and social responsibility initiatives in the region.

"Sustainable development is a fundamental value for Suzano," said Mr. Schalka. "We are committed to responsibly operating the new tissue paper factory, which will benefit both people and the environment."
